Stuff you could buy for me to help numb the pain of my daily existence

I'd buy you anything except Almost Famous. Crowe is a hack

Now you're just itchin' for a fight, aren't you? Let's take a quick look over at Wikipedia to see what he's had a hand in. Here are the films he directed (and my opinions of them):

Say Anything - Never seen it.

Singles - Never seen it.

Jerry McGuire - Crap

Almost Famous - I liked it a lot, especially the extended version.

Vanilla Sky - Crap

Elizabethtown - Never even heard of it.

Okay, maybe he is a hack, but Almost Famous is still one of my favorites. I also enjoyed reading Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

I guess Wikipedia makes it official. Crowe = hack

the only reason Say Anything wasn't complete crap was because of Peter Gabriel in the soundtrack.
I didn't know FTaRH was a book. FTaRH is not crap because it is about drugs and blowjobs. hilarious.
The movie version also shows Phoebe Cates' naked breasts, which were very important to all boys of a certain age. That reminds me, I need to go up to Blockbuster.
PC showed her breasts? meh.
she did demonstrate a grand mastery of the banana arts.
Gus just posted a song from the She & Him album, I like it!
I will probably buy it on amazon, does it count that Amazon is a local company?

I have no idea what you're referring to. Sounds kinda phallic, though.

I heard a song called "Why Stay Here" and liked it quite a lot. I have all the M. Ward CDs, but I think they get boring after awhile. Zooey Deschanel's voice really adds something to the mix. I'll probably buy She & Him the next time I hit a music store. If I wait for people I don't know to buy it for me, then I'll be waiting a loooooooooooong time.

A $334.69 electric/gas bill? Oh, I get it...you think setting the thermostat at 85 will keep the stalkers away. It probably works, too. Studies show that excessive heat is directly antagonistic to stalkiness. (Disclaimer: studies are completely made up.)

I sort of skipped around The God Delusion. It seemed pretty entertaining. Another good one is The Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan.

The thing is I keep my house at 60 degrees in the day and 56 at night. People who wander into my home often tell me that those temperatures are very cold. I don't know what the fuck happened.

(Sorry about the language. My bill was twice as much as my previous record and it pisses me off. Now I have to beg for the stuff I'd usually just buy.)

The main reason I want The God Delusion is because it's got a shiny silver cover. I don't have any silver books.

Jeebus! That is cold!

Maybe they couldn't get to your meters and estimated the readings (i.e., made a ridiculous, wild-ass guess)? I hate that.

I called their customer service and that's exactly what happened. They've been estimating since last October, but they didn't do a very good job of it at all. Now I've got to make up the difference between their estimate and my actual usage on one bill.

They had to estimate a lot last winter, but they always came in well over my actual usage. I wonder what happened.

The She and Him album is pretty good. The new Black Keys album is AMAZING. I know you don't have it listed, but just wanted to throw in my two cents.

And that's my favorite version of Almost Famous, since it comes with the bootleg cut :)

I listened to a Black Keys promo a few years back and didn't think much of it. Give me a song title to check out off the new album and I'll give them another try.

Unfortunately, the bootleg cut of Almost Famous is out-of-print, so I'll have to keep my eye open in the used stores.

i'll upload one or two for you when i get home tonight.
Thanks for the link. I downloaded the four songs from the radio sessions. I didn't bother with the song Gus posted as I'm going to buy the CD anyway.
Stupid, M-----l, the title of the song is actually "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?", not "Why Stay Here". Get your facts straight.

since the electric/gas company screwed up their guesstimates so badly, the least they could do is give you two months to catch up.

I agree...at least then I could afford to buy some of this stuff.
