When the little one took the mic, I knew I'd fallen.

The Rufus Wainwright bit made me chuckle.

I wish someone would foot the bill for me to go see Leonard Cohen and I only have 2 of his records. on vinyl. And I hardly ever listened to the second one.

I had a brief moment of disappointment when I realized that all those beautiful love songs off his first album were about dudes. Then I realized it didn't matter at all. A good song is a good song.
Walking lunges and sit ups hmmm...what was your time? :)
I refuse to say. My driveway is all slanty.
$3.99?! That's a steal. Superwolf is the best think BPB has done since I See a Darkness.
Man, free Cohen tickets? That's life.

If you'd seen this Rufus album first, that woulda tipped you off as well.
I was very fond of Ease Down the Road, but I've been bored with most everything else since then. I See a Darkness is the best.

I heard Superwolf once when it came out, but it didn't do anything for me back then. I'm willing to try again at $3.99.
Are you saying that recording a double album of show tunes in the exact same order Judy Garland sang them on her Carnegie Hall album is a sign that the singer is gay? Maybe Rufus just thought Judy Garland was cute. Did you ever think of that?
I've been bored with a lot of his more recent releases as well. I long for the Palace days. I did quite enjoy Bonnie "Prince" Billy sings Greatest Palace Music, though. Maybe because those were all old songs.
I have to agree that the Bangles are awesome. Maybe it's an 80s thing. I'd never seen that particular video, but it's so much fun. It makes me want to be in a girl band.
[this is good]

The early Bangles are awesome. "Eternal Flame" makes me cringe.

...Greatest Palace Music
I enjoy all his releases that feature "Ohio River Boat Song". I prefer the original, though. The instrumentation on Greatest Palace Music sometimes borders on schlocky/cheesy.
It makes the floor more colorful and everything sounds better too. There ya go.

It makes me want to be in a girl band.

Me too.

I haven't gotten to "Eternal Flame" yet. I'll be sure to cringe when I do, though.

By the way, the studio version of "I'm in Line" is great. I can't tell if they're bah-ing in there or not. It's on the bubble.
Come to think of it, "Eternal Flame" would make a good Karaoke to the Death entry. What do you think about turning it into a duet?
Eek! I'd forgotten about "Eternal Flame". That one is a bit cringe worthy and a rather unfortunate double entendre.

The cover of 'The Clientele' music CD pack, looks really beautiful! I heard a couple of the songs of 'The Bangles' and found them quite good! 'The Bangles' is such an interesting name :)
[this is good]

Oh, yeah! I missed the double entendre. Do you have their first full-length, All Over the Place? (I know you love jangle pop so I'm guessing you do - "Going Down to Liverpool" is my favorite song on that.) Also, if you don't already have their first EP, should I include that on the tape with Rainy Day?
I've told you before, and I'll tell you again. I'd fly anywhere in the continental United States to sing karaoke with you...if I thought I'd be able to get you up on the stage. I'm not flying to wherever Hotrod/Dabysan live to sing by myself. Maybe this weekend's Ladies Rock Camp experience will help you overcome your stagefright. Let me know.
Regarding the Clientele cover art, I saw some paintings in a London art museum once that showed similar faces made of fruit and vegetables and flowers. I can't remember the artist's name, though.
Does KttD necessarily require singing as the bad performance activity of choice? or would bad drumming count?
Sorry, HB. It's gotta be bad singing. There aren't a lot of rules for KttD, but that's of 'em.
I guess my love for jangle pop is fairly obvious. When I was in college, I had All Over the Place on vinyl. However, when Chris and I moved to BKK, I left all my records with my in-laws in San Antonio. I just checked and All Over the Place is available in mp3 format. Yeah!

I don't have their first EP and it's not available in mp3 format, so I'd love for you to include it with Rainy Day. Thanks!
Interesting!
Of the five songs on the debut EP, two of them are available on Walk Like an Egyptian: The Best of the Bangles. The song I like a lot, "I'm in Line", is on the Essential Bangles (as shown in the above floor pic). I can't find the other ones, though.
I didn't know Rufus Wainwright was gay until I saw him in concert and realized I was the only guy there who didn't have another guy with him.

the SO had the reverse of your experience when he went with me to see ani difranco. somewhat surreal, but he recovered. eventually.
